Bible Study and Small Group Ministry - Sundays @ 9:30-10:45am
Currently, Grades 6-8 are separated into age specific LIFE Groups classes on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:45. Sixth grade meets in the POPCS High School Commons (cafeteria); 7th grade meets in Studio 6; 8th grade meets in the Youth Center. Students and Adults involved in LIFE Groups commit to meet regularly for spiritual growth, service and fellowship.
Sixth grade is a transitional year, exploring how to adjust to life in middle school and also in preparation for Confirmation. During the 6th grade year, families engage in a Milestone celebration in which parents are able to pass along a blessing and a personal keepsake to their child. Seventh and eighth grade curriculum incorporates Confirmation teaching and culminates at the end of 8th grade in a Confirmation Milestone family celebration.
Confirmation
Confirmation is for 7th & 8th grade students and parents. There is a family element involved throughout, as we believe parents play an essential role in the spiritual forming of their children. Confirmation is every Sunday from 9:30 – 10:45, and uses the large-group/small group (LIFE Groups – by gender) format. Our experiential curriculum will attend to the various learning styles of our young people. Confirmation at POP is an opportunity to grow in faith individually, as a family and as a community so that students may begin owning faith for themselves through a variety of experiences. It is as much about the heart as it is about the head.
